If you’re like I was, working at the local grocery store trying to make a living, then hang in there! I thought there was no way for me to be able to go to college, let alone even stop working at the grocery store. There are many different types of ways to pay for college. The goal of this site is to help those who need that extra push that someone once gave me.
Let’s start with the more basic options available…then I promise we will get into the scholarships and secret methods people use to pay for college that most people don’t know about.
Government grants probably the most popular way people try and get money. The problem with this is that there are so many different restrictions to apply. For example, when I was trying to find a scholarship or some way to pay for school, I remember a 20 item checklist that I need to meet. I was lucky if I had 5 out of the 20.
The best thing about government grants, if you apply, is that you don’t have to pay them back like a loan. If you can get approved, more power to you!
Like I stated earlier government grants are the most popular ways to pay for college. Also, there are many changes in the application process. When I applied I received my denial in 1 month. Now, you probably will have to wait around 4-6 months before you hear anything. By all means, if I were you, try applying for government grants first. You have nothing to lose right? Or do you? Well, just your time…but if you get approved, it will be time well spent!
Another option are student loans. Be careful, you don’t want to pay a really high interest rate. Sometimes it’s better to not borrow money if you’re going to owe more than the money is worth when you graduate.
Be creative, there are ways to pay for college that you probably never would of thought of. Look on the top of this page. See that banner? It’s a contest to win a 10,000 scholarships. Will you definitely win? Of course not, but what do you have to lose? All you need to do is fill out a very brief form with your contact information. Instantly you will be in the running for a 10k scholarship for free. Now that’s one of the best ways to pay for college!
